My solution was to use iTunes 12!!!

My iPad mini was stuck in recovery mode with the 8.0.2 update, and after connecting to my computer with iTunes 11.4 the only option was "Restore", i. e., to reset to factory state, that was really disappointing.

But today, surprisingly, after updating my computer to iTunes 12, iTunes gave me the choice between "Update" and "Restore", and of course I chose "Update".

The update took an unusually long time (30 min after the download), but at the end my iPad was updated to 8.0.2 and all data is still intact.

Just wanted to share with you that there is a solution from Apple that worked for me.

    1. Hi, dear. Thank you for your suggestion. I would share it to more users who have this issue.
