How Do I Replace Battery in iPhone 5s?

Note: It is similar for iPhone 5 and 5S models. This article, I will take iPhone 5s as the example. Hope it helps.

Like all previous iPhone models, the battery in the iPhone 5S models is not intended to be replaced by an end-user.

For those with modest technical skills, patience, and a steady hand, battery self-replacement is possible, although professional installation is strongly recommended.

Things You Should Know before Replacement

1. Be sure iPhone is powered off.
2. Be aware that replacing battery by yourself has risks to damage iPhone.
3. Get an iPhone tool kit which contains screwdriver and other needed tools. You can buy it from Amazon or lend it from your friends.

Steps to Replace iPhone 5s Battery

1. Remove two screws at the base of iPhone with the hex head screwdriver comes with the iPhone tool kit.

2. Remove the screen from the casing. This is the most tricky step. The home button is not attached inside and only ear piece end is. The simplest trick to achieve this is to attach the suction cup to the side of the home button and pull hard while holding the outside if the casing.

3. After that, you can lift the lid from the dock. Be careful not to tear it down or break any ribbons connected near the other end.

4. Now it is time to undo the screws on a small metal plate.

5. Now to find the battery cable, it is a black connector. Then use a plastic pick to detach it.

6. Pull the battery out with a plastic sleeve underneath.

7. After pulling out of the old battery, insert your new one and connect it to the battery terminal.  Repeat the steps  in revere to reassemble the new battery.

However, you should be careful and think twice to DIY. Apple offers professional service to do this. You can also challenge yourself by DIY.

Apple Unveiled iOS 8 and Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite on WWDC

Last year, Apple revealed the biggest change to iOS, the all-new iOS 7 has brought a big change on operating system. And new iOS 7.1 launched a month ago on April 22. Now the true evolution begins. Jony Ive and the iOS team have had plenty of time to listen to feedback and dig deeper into features introduced before Ive ever took control of software. And finally, iOS 8 is here.

At WWDC on 2nd, June, Apple focused on software instead of hardware. And, Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and iOS 8 are the two main focuses. Furthermore, WWDC presentation focused heavily on the way OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 worked together, with several new features that increase the integration between the two operating systems.

Much-anticipated iOS 8 – More Change on Functions Instead of Appearance

As the big change of iOS 7 has launched not long ago, there is not much surprise on the iOS 8 interface design, still keeps the style of flat on iOS 7. However, big surprise of iOS 8 is on the new functions. Let’s have a detailed look in the below.

Handoff, lets a user start a task on one device and then switch to another. A person might writing an email on the iPhone, and then pick up where they left off when sitting down at a Mac. A user can browse the web on the Mac and then continue browsing the same website on the go on the iPad.

This feature is enabled automatically, so long as all devices are signed into the same iCloud account. Handoff works with apps like Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts, and it can be built into third-party apps.

Message has finally gained a much-desired feature that allows users to leave group conversations. It's much simpler to add and remove users from group conversations, and a new Messages "Do Not Disturb" mode lets users mute group conversations whenever necessary.

In group conversations, users are also able to share their locations for a set period of time via a new "Send My Current Location" button. It also supports voice recordings, which can be captured using a new microphone button and sent via a swipe. Users who receive a voice recorded message can raise the phone to their ear to hear the message. Similarly, video messages can be sent in almost the same way, and watched directly within the Messages app.

Photos Management

New photo management app enables you to find your favored pictures more quickly and easily. And powerful editing function is also added in this new App. You can make your pictures more beautiful with a few clicks. Indeed, the new App is redesigned as an iCloud Photo Library which will keep photos organized into Moments, Collections, and Years, much like the Photos app does now.

iCloud Drive

Just as the photo storage on iCloud Photo Library, iCloud offers users to store their files on iCloud Drive. As its own Cloud storage service, iCloud Drive allows users to save on cross-platform, access different files. What’s more, except supporting Apple devices, it is compatible with Windows as well.

Health Application

It provides you with personal health data. On the backend, Apple is calling it HealthKit which is a piece of management software for wearable device. It is even able to connect with hospital, being a health management platform.

Family Sharing

It is a new feature in iOS 8 that lets you sync up all the devices in a single family (must be tied to one credit card) to automatically share media, calendars, reminders, or find my friends. You can also locate people’s devices, which could come in handy for parents with forgetful kids, or vice versa.

iOS 8 makes typing easier by suggesting contextually appropriate words to complete your sentences. It even recognizes to whom you’re typing and whether you’re in Mail or Messages because your tone in an email may be different from your tone in a message. For example, one of your friends texts you to ask whether to eat dinner or watch a film, then QuickType will show “Eat dinner” and “Watch a film” in the input so that you can reply the message as quick as possible.

Spotlight Search

The spotlight search on iOS 8 not only supports local search, it allows you to interconnect to look for App, News, Restaurant, Music, Film, etc.

In addition, Device Enrollment is a new business-oriented feature which aimed to let Apple be better fit in enterprise environment. And it emphasizes details more than ever. For example, you can reply messages from the locked screen, manage mails more efficiently, current contact added onto the taskbar, call and text more speedily.

Finally, these are only a small selection of the new features that have been added to iOS 8, more features will be added at this release and the iOS 8 beta updates to come.

1. Updating to a new iOS is risky to lose data, so you are strongly suggested to backup your device before the update. Lost data, please download iPhone data recovery to recover all lost data without backup.
2. iPhone, iPad, iPod stuck on recovery mode before updating is done? Be relaxed, free iPhone reboot tool ReiBoot is here for help.
3. iTunes asking for a password at backup restore after iOS 8 update? iTunes backup password unlocker is specially designed to recover or remove forgotten/lost password on iTunes backup.
